The Georgia Center for Assessment recently hosted an item writer training session on Saturday, April 23. GCA’s Kay Elder and Heather Bolinger facilitated the training session, and Stephanie Lai and Tracy Williford were instrumental in organizing and planning the event.
Participants in the training were educators and content experts from across Georgia. The daylong training session provided a professional learning experience that covered depth of knowledge, learning targets, and universal design. The training also provided an opportunity for participants to practice item writing with hands-on feedback and guidance from GCA staff.
The need for training additional item writing professionals reflects GCA’s growing partnerships with schools and districts throughout Georgia and across the country. The training also provides opportunities for educators to utilize their new item development insight and serve as a valuable resource for their schools and teachers.
GCA is looking forward to hosting the next item writer training session later in the summer.
