GCA Partners with GaDOE and State Educators on Kindergarten Assessment

Over the last year and a half, the Georgia Center for Assessment (GCA) and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) have partnered with educators from across the state to redesign the Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (GKIDS).

During the 2017-18 school year, 21 teachers had the opportunity to pilot performance tasks in their kindergarten classrooms.  Each teacher brought a wealth of expertise and excitement to the process. We look forward to working with Bleckley County Primary (Bleckley County), David Perdue Primary (Houston County), and Liberty Elementary (Cherokee County) alongside GaDOE in 2018-19 for pilot year two.

As Georgia’s leading educational testing and measurement organization, GCA has vast experience in the process of item development for state educational assessments as well as partnering with schools and districts to meet their assessment needs. GCA understands that educators, students, and parents rely on assessments to provide information, which supports teachers’ efforts to increase student learning and achievement. We demonstrate this understanding by developing items and assessments that engage students and provide accurate results for educators. Our experience, combined with the flexibility in customization for our partners, allows us to deliver items and assessments that are aligned with our partner’s expectations.
