The Georgia Center for Assessment (GCA), part of the College of Education at the University of Georgia, partners with schools, districts, RESAs, students and parents to provide a host of services and products to support teaching and learning.  GCA is seeking students for internship opportunities in the areas of instruction, curriculum, assessment, marketing and sales.  Students will not only have the opportunity to learn, but also apply their learning to practice.

Areas of Focus for Internships

Professional Learning

GCA partners with schools, districts, RESAs, and parents to provide a host of professional learning workshops tailored to the client’s objectives.  Students will have the opportunity to research, learn and assist in the professional learning opportunities provided to our clients.

Scoring and Reporting

GCA hosts a number of scoring projects throughout the year, from our own formative Assesslets to statewide high-stakes assessments. Students will learn and participate in the scoring and reporting of low-stakes projects.

Assessment Development

GCA supports many of its clients in the development of formative and summative assessments that support teaching and learning.  Content experts are utilized to create and review educational assessment items.  Experience or knowledge in K-12 education and/or experience in the content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies is preferred. Additional training in the item writing and review process will be provided.

Business Development – Sales and Marketing

GCA also seeks internships in the areas of sales and marketing. Students will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to assist GCA in determining which products and services best meet the client’s needs. Experience or knowledge in developing marketing plans, reviewing and developing business processes and developing strategic goals for sales is preferred.  This work may require local travel to support current and potential clients.
